what is waveform collective?

waveform collective is a music non-profit based in waterloo, ontario. our mission is to build community in local electronic & experimental music, connecting artists and fostering collaborations across disciplines.

we were founded in june 2025, and have been registered as an ontario non-profit since october 2025. our core programming includes free monthly meetups for music hobbyists and producers, we also regularly organize live electronic concerts on a pay-what-you-can model. we have hosted djs, laptop producers, modular synthesists, and everything in between.

our secondary activities include production of physical media and outreach. sound kitchen, our in-house volunteer-produced zine, has released 2 issues since october 2025.

we accomplish all our activities through a flat organization structure. we have no established hierarchy and encourage any volunteers to submit ideas and help out (that means you!!!). planning occurs through in-person meetings and via our discord server, where our logistics channels are publicly visible.

our core values centre around accessibility and inclusivity. we aim to bridge gaps and allow the sharing of knowledge between non-students and students, artists from various genres, and people across any identity. we believe few spaces like this exist and it is important to prioritize interdisciplinary and intergenerational learning, especially in an age where the pace of social media creates fragmented scenes.

due to this, we prioritize making our events accessible to all by: hosting free or pay-what-you-can events, hosting in non-university venues, and making an effort to represent marginalized groups. we aim to give artists a platform and a space to share their art, with electronic music being underrepresented in the region but offering its doors to all.
